(Entry 5) Allstate Mayhem, Cat

Allstate has been around since 1931, and over 92 years, the company has seen and covered a lot. There have been many unique instances that we couldn't even begin to think of. Most people are familiar with the Allstate mayhem advertisements. Allstate is an insurance company, so the mayhem commercials are meant to be entertaining but relatable.

In the Mayhem cat commercial, We see actor Dean Winters doing typical cat things, such as playing with toys and knocking things over. At one point, he turned the sink faucet on, causing the sink to overflow and eventually collapse the floor due to water damage. After which, he says, "And if you got the wrong home insurance, you could be coughing up the cash for this."

Many people have cats and may not have thought their cute companions could cause such damage. This ad is meant for them to relate to. They are showing the "cat" doing everyday cat things and showing that sometimes these acts can be detrimental. The possibility that it could be your cat that causes a flood or a fire because of their playfulness should encourage cat owners to upgrade or buy Allstate home insurance. This is further proven when Dean Winters says, "So get Allstate, to be better protected by mayhem, like meow."

The video ends with the classic blue screen asking, "Are you in good hands?" Leaving the audience to wonder if they are in good hands. Suppose their current insurance is good enough or covers accidents like the one shown.
